So this is going to be a short post. But it was something I thought lots of parents would think was something cool to do with their kids so here it is.
My daughter, Isabella, in all her six years of wisdom, has decided before becoming a “baby doctor” she wants to write and illustrate a book. As any father would do for his little girl, I decided to find out how I could make that happen. And here is one way I found to publish a book. (the links to Blurb are sponsored)
I found an awesome website, Blurb, that makes it super easy and pretty cheap to have a book, any book, YOUR book, professionally printed and bound. There’s even an option to turn it into an ebook. AND you can even make your book/ebook available for sale.
When you go to the site there is free design software available to download on various OS’s. So it doesn’t matter if you prefer Mac or PC. Once downloaded you can work on your book, or multiple books, at your pace whenever you want and it doesn’t cost anything until you upload your finished project to be printed. There’s tons of themes and layouts and all kinds of ways to customize pretty much everything. It’s super cool.
So we have been doodling away on our tablets, we use Sketchbook Pro to draw which is available for Mac, PC, Android, Kindle. But I’m not positive if it’s on Linux. And we’ve been jotting all types of notes down to build characters and stories. Having lots of fun in the process.
This is a lot of fun and I thought I’d let you know how you could write and publish a book. The book is no where near complete. But how cool will it be when the teacher asks, “And what did you do over break?” To which my daughter answers nonchalantly, “Wrote a book.” BOO-YA!
