Hello everyone.
If you are on my mailing list, then you should have gotten an email from me yesterday explaining this post. If not, then just know that this will be my most serious post in the year that I’ve been blogging.
There was no post last week because I was spending the holidays with my family and just enjoying them. The day went fantastic and I hope yours did as well. But on the 26th. I received some terrible news from a friend of mine from my high school years. His sister was missing.
Her name is Cathi and she is living with a horrible disease called Huntington’s Disease. It is a disease that causes the affected to become more and more dependent on others for their daily needs. Huntington’s also effects the brain and causes issues with reasoning and depression. The family feels that Cathi may have found herself in a state where she felt she was becoming too much of a burden on her family and wandered off. This can not be further from the truth. She is beloved by many and her family would do anything for her, willingly and with love.
I’m going to include a link to the news story HERE so that you can find out more details about the situation and also a link to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America HERE so you can educate yourself about this disease. There is no cure for Huntington’s at this time but great advancements have been made in recent years.
I want you to imagine yourself in this family’s situation and what you would do to bring home your loved one.
I know that most of my readers are not local to Harford County Maryland, so I couldn’t expect you to be able to join the search for her. But The local fire, police, search and rescue and even air support have joined in the effort to find Cathi. Not to mention the many people in the community who have come out to look for her. But you CAN help.
I’m including a link HERE to a GoFundMe page that has been set up by the family to help find Cathi. While there are many people volunteering to help with the search, there are expenses associated with it. Things like flyers, food, and beverages. Also, Cathi’s brother has come from across the country to help look for his sister. So I’m pleading with you to help by posting this to all your social media venues hoping for some leads. And if you can, I’m humbly asking you to make a donation, even just a couple dollars to this family. It will be a great help. Also know that any money donated goes directly to the search costs. If there is any remaining once she is found, it will be donated to The Huntington’s Disease Society of America to help find a cure.
Your donation will be GREATLY appreciated by me personally, as well as the family. This post is my effort to help in the best way I’m capable of, by getting the message out to as many people as possible. I started this blog to have an online voice. And now I’m trying to use that voice to do more good than just telling you how to make a recipe or fix a water heater.
And lastly, if you think you have seen Cathi please call the Havre de Grace Police Department at 410-939-2121
